Vernon Bogdanor CBE, FBA is a research professor at the Centre for British Politics and Government, King’s College London. He is also Emeritus Professor of Politics and Government at the University of Oxford where he taught for many years and Emeritus Fellow of Brasenose College, Oxford.

He is one of Britain's foremost constitutional experts and has written widely on government and politics, including books The People and the Party System; The Monarchy and the Constitution; and Power and the People: A Guide to Constitutional Reform. He also edited a seminal work The British Constitution in the Twentieth Century and wrote The New British Constitution. In his view recent events have made the issues even more critical and have prompted him to write Beyond Brexit – Towards a British Constitution.

Internationally and domestically, he has been an adviser to governments and to parliamentary bodies on many occasions, and in 1998 was awarded the CBE for services to constitutional history. In 2009, he was appointed a Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur by the President of France, Nicolas Sarkozy, for his work on the law and history of Britain and France. He is a Fellow of the British Academy.
